Building resilience and putting stressful occasions to avoid being overwhelmed by them in future
Learning to be present in little moments of life is an art. We miss out on life’s small victories because we miss out on mindfulness throughout the journey of attaining it.
Let’s see what you need to incorporate in order to bring mindfulness into everyday life!
Do something you love
Your attentiveness would never rest in a place where your interest is missing. Mindfulness comes with the willingness to get involved in the process, value every other contribution, and accomplish results. It is hard to achieve mindfulness in unintended activities. Where there’s an intention, there’s a will, and when there’s a will, there’s mindfulness! So, either you pick up something you love or fall in love with what you do! That’s the only way to bring awareness to activities.
“Mindfulness means being awake. It means knowing what you are doing.”
–Jon Kabat-Zinn
Take a break
Jumping from one activity to another all through the day can make it challenging for you to stay mindful. But, that’s not a problem. Practising a few things can help bring attentiveness and awareness throughout the day.
Make a point to be mindful in between activities or meals at parts of your day. In these mid shots, you might practise yoga and meditation, engage in breathing techniques, or ground down in the present moment.
You need to come out of one activity to engage yourself in another.
“Meditation is not evasion; it is a serene encounter with reality.”
–Thích Nhất Hạnh
Conscious interaction
Mindfulness is important when interacting with your partner, children, colleague, and everyone else.
A few aspects of being focused are staying present during conversations, paying attention to what the other person intends to convey, and learning to respond non-judgmentally. While you are listening to the other person, you needn’t start curating opinions for rebuttal. Conscious speech comes from mindful and attentive listening.
Understand yourself
Every day is a new day, a new story. It’s not important that you would feel the same way every day. And that is enough for you to understand that you might not be very productive each day. You need to sit back and think about how you’re feeling and where your contribution can add productivity.
