“You never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone; change begins at the end of your comfort zone.”
― Roy T. Bennett
Goals at various stages in life keep changing, and the pursuit of achieving them makes the journey of life most incredible. The best feeling is to see oneself successfully advancing toward the goal.
But, what is stopping you from feeling incredible about your journey? Not wanting to step out of your comfort zone is what keeps you away from achieving the goal. That is like a silent killer stopping one from achieving their goals. The resistance toward stepping out of the comfort zone is responsible for derailing the efforts that you would put towards securing the target goals.
When you choose to break all levels of comfort you have set for yourself, you take the first significant step towards achieving your goal.
What is ‘comfort zone?’
When you put yourself on the pedestal of not wanting to give up on everything that doesn’t allow you to step out and struggle, that is your comfort zone.
Unless you get up from your comfy mattress, you cannot progress toward your daily goals. Similarly, if you do not attempt to create a difference through your actions, you will never find yourself advancing towards your goal.
While moving towards your goals, you will face many challenges that would require you to improve yourself by moving away from your comfort space constantly. And once you implement that into your action, your life will start taking the desired turn.
When you set out of your comfort zone, you will be scared.
It’s not easy to step out of your comfort zone. Initially, it can terrify you, but then you need to accept it because that is how life happens. Feeling overwhelmed or in terror would also come along at some point, but that is how it is. Feeling agile while embarking on a journey that is filled with new things is normal. While all these would try to hold you back, you need to come out of it, conquering all fears, anxiety, stress, and trepidation. Once you get out of the fear, you have already achieved the goal. It’s not the winner’s tag that always speaks for the work.
Once you can think of something, you can achieve it too! It might not be easy, but who said life was supposed to be easy. In life, not having challenges was a personal assumption framed by us. Life is supposed to be a challenge, and us facing and tackling them how it is supposed to be!
“We are so accustomed to the comforts of “I cannot”, “I do not want to”, and “it is too difficult” that we forget to realize when we stop doing things for ourselves and expect others to dance around us, we are not achieving greatness. We have made ourselves weak.”
― Pandora Poikilos
